The Life Story: A Journey In Healing
Kevin Meehan is the Owner and founder of the Teton Valley Health Clinic, serving the Teton County, nearby Idaho and Wyoming communities with alternative healing therapies that foster the body's inherent ability to heal. Kevin came to Jackson 31 years ago to begin his journey in healing.
Here is his story...
Kevin had experienced a very challenging childhood. As with many children, his parents divorced when he was young. As an older adolescent and young teen, his situation proved to be more challenging than just the divorce, as he and his siblings were often deprived of parental leadership, appropriate shelter and nourishment.
At the age of seventeen, he was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. It was at this stage of his life he decided to search for alternative types of treatment protocols instead of the typical therapies popular with allopathic training. In addition, he was hired as a maintenance worker by the Human Dimensions Institute in Ojai, California. The educational exposure Kevin had at the H.D.I. allowed him to further enhance his experience of optional lifestyle health protocols.
Kevin thus succeeded in arresting the diabetes through self research, advanced protocols and their application. He became interested in the specific science of health and began his search for options not currently recognized by the majority of health care providers. He enrolled at Shasta College a few years later, and over a three year period accrued more than three hundred credits in preparation for entrance requirements at the Portland Naturopathic College and Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. A joint program at that time, both colleges offered extensive research courses in conjunction with Oregon Health Sciences University, which allowed for a more comprehensive blend of both alternative and mainstream health sciences.
Kevin Meehan graduated with a degree in Oriental medicine, and holds a Diploma in acupuncture with an active license. Soon after leaving school, Kevin traveled to Asia in order to supplement his education and further develop practical skills and techniques that he still uses in his unique private practice. Many of these protocols are unique to his practice. In addition, acquiring procedures used in medical institutes throughout Asia has broadened his scope of treatment protocols, allowing for a more diverse set of tools for addressing individual health needs of his patients.
Kevin has been independently studying biochemistry and its medical applications for over thirty years, designing and patenting formulations and compositions with a number of companies. For over a decade now, Kevin decided to work on products that address the most common complaints of his patients. One of his most exciting project would have to be the development of a patented formulation, which premise is revolved around the telomere shortening theory. Essentially, this may contribute to why mammals age.
